Write-30 No.23

Clear hour glass on brown wooden table

Family Fortune.

Your family has suddenly imherited a load of money rom a strange long-lost uncle. But there is a catch. You also inherit something else and you have no choice but to keep it or you lose the money. What is it? A dangerous, mysterious animal? A haunted house? A letter containing a secret? A strange relative?

STUCK?   Try this story starter:
Jamie sat next to the pile of money and looked down at the box. What else had their strange uncle given them? Jamie put the key into the lock and turned. The box popped open with a smell of time itself. Inside, wrapped in a soft purple cloth was a blue egg. A blue egg that glowed in the moonlight streaming through the window. An egg? Was that all? Surely nothing bad could come from an egg?

Write – 30?
Write – 30 is a daily activity where you write non-stop for twenty minutes then check and edit your work for 10 minutes. You will be asked to write about different subjects and in different forms.

The writing should be done on lined paper in pencil if possible. Edit and check the work in pen. If you don’t have paper and pencil, use what you can. Even a computer.

Finding it difficult? What you can do to help:

  • Always sit/work in the same place
  • Always use the same writing tools
  • Always turn the TV off
  • No talking – it distracts thinking
  • Always listen to the same piece of classical music when writing.
  • Always set yourself a goal: count the number of words. Try to beat that number the following day.

Leave some word doodling!
