The Ugliest Pet In The World.

Imagine you were given an ugly pet. What would it look like? What would make it ugly? How sound would it make? How would it move? What would it eat? What would you do?

STUCK?   Try this story starter:
I should have been suspicious when the genie laughed. All I had done was wish for a pet but that had made the genie laugh out loud, louder than he had done before. My mum had warned me about genies. They have a habit of playing tricks on people. Little did I know what was to follow.
There was a big flash of light and a puff of smoke and the genie was gone; off to enjoy his freedom. And I was left with a large box with holes in it. Air holes. And it seemed to be making a noise.

What happens next?

DID YOU KNOW?  My Family And Other Animals by Gerald Durrell  is a book all about a boy who goes to live on the island of Corfu and all the fascinating animals he comes across.

What is Write – 30?
Write – 30 is a daily activity where you write non-stop for twenty minutes then check and edit your work for 10 minutes. You will be asked to write about different subjects and in different forms.

The writing should be done on lined paper in pencil if possible. Edit and check the work in pen. If you don’t have paper and pencil, use what you can. Even a computer.

Finding it difficult? What you can do to help:

  • Always sit/work in the same place
  • Always use the same writing tools
  • Always turn the TV off
  • No talking – it distracts thinking
  • Always listen to the same piece of classical music when writing.
  • Always set yourself a goal: count the number of words. Try to beat that number the following day.

Leave some word doodling!
