robot dog copy

Robot Dog.

Your Aunt sends you a present for your birthday. It is a robot dog. What does it look like? What does it do? What adventures do you have?

STUCK?   Try this story starter:
Aunt Petunia was a strange old fruit, according to mum, and an inventor to boot. So I knew the present would be a bit off the wall. But nothing prepared me quite for what was going to happen.
The parcel was delivered early on the Sunday by a courier. I was surprised he had to use a trolley for such a small red parcel but maybe he was just weak or unfit, although he didn’t look it being all muscle and thick neck. He clunked the box in the hall, said “Sign,” and then was off.
There was a neat label on the top. It said: ‘Every boy needs a pet. Here’s yours. Love Aunt Petunia.’
Mum was like, “God. I hope it isn’t a spider. I told her I can’t stand them.”
Which isn’t entirely true. She doesn’t like any animals. She’s scared of them all. Even ants. It’s like she doesn’t trust them. It as if she thinks at any moment they will attack and walk off with an arm. Ridiculous. So, that was why I didn’t have a pet. Unlike my friend Kevin who has 3 cats, 2 goldfish, 2 gerbils, 1 hamster and a snake. Why does Kevin get all the luck? But I had a feeling my luck was about to change.

DID YOU KNOW? There is  book called Your Robot Dog Will Die by Arin Greenwood about a girl called Nano who is given robot dogs to test to only have them taken away.

Alien Invasion.

Aliens are gradually taking over the bodies of the people in your town. Only you seem to notice. What can you do? Who can you get to help?

STUCK?   Try this story starter:
Things started to go weird after the night of the asteroid. It crashed over in Johnson’s fields on the edge of town. But no one noticed. Most people were watching the Saturday special on TV or were online gaming, too busy to realise what was about to happen.
Jamie was the first to notice something wasn’t right. It began in a small way. He popped to Mabel’s Store to collect the newspapers for delivery. Higgin’s wasn’t around, which was a bit odd, but Jamie figured he was out back having a smoke (disgusting habit) so grabbed the bag of papers, hopped on his bike and set off for Henry Street. He couldn’t hang around for Higgins, he would be late for school. So he dropped off the first paper at No. 19 and sped off to the next house.
Jamie finished the route by about 7:15 so headed back to Mabel’s to grab his weekly pay. Higgins was stood behind the counter saying nothing. This was odd because…

The Secret Passage Way.

You visit an old library when on holiday. When looking around, you lean on a bookshelf. Suddenly, it moves to reveal a door to a secret passage way. Where does it go? What will you find?

STUCK?   Try this story starter:
Can you believe it? We were on holiday and my mother took us to a library! A library! Of all the boring places to go. Why not a water park or the beach or even a restaurant? But a library, I mean. I know she is a book fanatic but that was ridiculous. Anyway, I decided to wander around the place a bit as there was nothing else to do. There was row after row of tall bookcases that almost blocked out the light. They were filled with old leather bound books of various shades of black and brown. It was a like a book maze. So of course I got a bit lost and found myself in some dark corner by a wall of books trying to work out which way to go next. I leant against one of the shelves meaning to take a swig from my water bottle when I began to fall backwards. The shelf had moved. I turned around to look at what had happened and there was a door. A door made out of bookshelves.

Treasure.

You are at your grandparents’ house playing in the garden. Suddenly, you foot hits something buried under the earth. You did it up. What is it?

STUCK?   Try this story starter:
I was stuck at grandma’s again. I had been dumped there again by my dad who ‘had to work.’ He is always working. He never seems to have time for me even after mum died. You would think that would make a difference but not him. He had to work. There is not much to do at grandma’s house except explore her garden. It’s large, slightly overgrown with a myriad of different coloured plants. Anyway, I was near the back which is just all greenery and rather dull so I don’t usually go there. Then it happened. I caught my big toe on something under the ground. Some sort of box, I thought, as the corner was poking up out the ground.
