Write-30 No.44

Robot man wearing blue crew-neck t-shirt

Robot Teacher.

You return to school. Instead of your usual teacher you have a supply teacher. He starts teaching but keeps doing things that are not quite normal. What’s going on?

STUCK?   Try this story starter:
Jamie was finally back at school. After months off, she was finally out of the house and ready to see her friends. Who would have thought she would be pleased about going to school? But it wasn’t Mrs Higgins that greeted her at the door. It was some bloke.
‘I am your teacher for today. My name is Mr Robbie. Mrs Higgins is…unwell. Please come in and find your seat,’ he said with an odd tilt of his head.

What happens next?

DID YOU KNOW? There is a book about a robot teacher called Mrs Ironside who has cold eyes, a clenched jaw, and superhuman strength. It is called My Teacher’s A robot by Phil Barnes.

What is Write – 30?
Write – 30 is a daily activity where you write non-stop for twenty minutes then check and edit your work for 10 minutes. You will be asked to write about different subjects and in different forms.

The writing should be done on lined paper in pencil if possible. Edit and check the work in pen. If you don’t have paper and pencil, use what you can. Even a computer.

Finding it difficult? What you can do to help:

  • Always sit/work in the same place
  • Always use the same writing tools
  • Always turn the TV off
  • No talking – it distracts thinking
  • Always listen to the same piece of classical music when writing.
  • Always set yourself a goal: count the number of words. Try to beat that number the following day.
